The Earnest Cook Trust who own Macaroni Wood have recently been undertaking tree harvesting in all of their woodlands.
In February this work involved removing 1000 tonnes of timber from Macaroni Wood.
Long term benefits include allowing more light into the woodland which will benefit the remaining trees and create open spaces and a better habitat for the woodland wildlife.
We had to have a bit of a tidy up afterwards but have been assisted by a team of young helpers from Dumps Adventure Playground.
We’ve also benefited from fresh new wood chippings generated from the clearing process that have been placed under our various swings in Macaroni Wood.
