Step Into The Woods
Research has shown that people living in more deprived areas have poorer access to green
space and nature. Research has also revealed that children’s wellbeing increased after they
had spent time connecting with nature: the children showed an increase in their personal
wellbeing and health over time, and they showed an increase in nature connection and
demonstrated high levels of enjoyment.
Once you Step into the woods here, children will immediately feel a connection to nature.
Here is list of possibilities at Macaroni Wood.
Forest school sessions are available to be booked, and can be tailored to your needs, from lighting fire to building shelters and everything in between, make sure you reserve your session when you make your booking.
We have 18 acres of woodland for you to enjoy, take a walk through the woods or take a
bike, play football on our football field, find our forest school site, and just explore the wild
nature of the woodland. We will be introducing nature courses in 2024.
We have a few breeds of chickens including some wild. Our main breed at the woods is the
Orpington. We have two KuneKune pigs, called Doris and Dora. Percy the Peacock, Priscilla
the Peafowl, and their offspring. You can help us collect eggs in the morning and feed the
chickens and pigs. If you are lucky, you may be around when some eggs hatch. We have
some rabbits too.
There is a whole host of wildlife that call this woodland home and I f you are lucky you may get to see the deer, spot a bat flying overhead or see the barn owl swooping down.
There are no streetlights here so when it gets dark it gets really dark, and on a clear night you can see thousands of stars. We can provide you with a night walk kit for you to plan your own or for an extra cost we can give you a guided walk.
We have 3 dedicated areas for you to have a campfire, just ask during your stay and we can provide the logs and firelighters, just bring your marshmallows.
All groups that visit will have access to our fantastic adventure playground, jump on the trampoline, swing on one of our many swings, race down our slides or be brave enough to conquer the zip wire.
We have a fleet of mountain bikes, BMXs, tricycles, and pedal quads of all different sizes and abilities for our visitors to use. Cycle round the woodland and enjoy speeding through the woods.
Pond dipping sessions are available to be booked, come and see what wildlife we have living in our pond.
We have a large allotment plot for groups to help us maintain and grow vegetables and
This year we aim to build some accessible raised allotments next to the sports hall.
Being outdoors in all weathers (apart from high winds) is wonderful for our wellbeing.
However, if you are booked into Bazley house you will have the exclusive use of our games
room, with a full-size pool table, table tennis and table football for your enjoyment.
If you are booked into Castree house you will have exclusive use of our sensory room, so

Raining? No problem. Make use of our indoor sports hall. Please do ask us first.
Next to the sports hall is our music room, a great place to chill out on a rainy day, play the drums, guitar or our keyboard.
